Our Teachers

Workshop Leaders

Ines Buchli is a theatre director, dramaturg, film maker and writer.  Her creative research focuses on the neuroscience of emotion and its application to acting.  Ines has a Level 4 certification in Alba and instructor level in Emotional Body.  Ines taught acting and directing for many years at York University where she is currently continuing her research in emotion as a Senior Scholar.  


Tom Stroud is an Emotional Body Instructor and a certified Alba teacher.  He has a long career in experimental dance and theatre as a performer, choreographer and director. He is the former Artistic Director of Winnipeg’s Contemporary Dancers, and currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film where his research is focused on emotion and the body in performance.


Assisted By

Gayle Murphy is an Associate Professor in the BFA Acting program at the University of British Columbia and a vocal coach for actors and other professional speakers. She is a certified Breathexperience instructor, a director of Breathexperience Canada, and an Instructional Apprentice with Emotional Body. 


Dana Smith is an actor, director, and Professor of Theatre at Truman State University.  She is an Apprentice Instructor with the Emotional Body, a Certified Trainer of Lessac Kinesensics (voice and body work), and a Practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming.  During her sabbatical in Fall 2020, she studied crossover applications of Kinesensics and Emotional Body work for the actor.  Her current focus is on exploring the Emotional Effector Patterns as an acting technique.   

To protect the integrity of the work and to insure quality of experience and transmission of knowledge for students and practitioners, only certified teachers are authorized to independently train people.
